WHERE IS OUR FAITH? ¹

Thank you for your periodical blog posts and also for sharing wonderful happenings around the world which are really light houses and street lights giving constant sustenance to the unquestioning confidence of devotees working in His Mission at this crucial phase in human history. They appear regularly with consistent style, courage and unwavering faith.

However, even devotees who have seen great miracles do not believe

Recently, in our fortnightly study circle, devotees shared miraculous things happening in different corners of the world from Holland to New Zealand, Venezuela to Velankanni and from Medjugorje Hill to Kodai Hills, all pointing to the Grand second coming of our beloved Lord.

During the proceedings, one participant, a ‘devotee’ for decades, who has personally seen at least two clear resurrections in his own family (they are not simple divine cures, but confirmed resurrections) made certain disparaging comments which shall not be reproduced here ² (for reasons explained in the reference section - point 2). However, comments made by his consanguine kin in a similar situation two thousand years before are given here which will throw some light with which we can conclude that human nature has not changed over two millennia:

On the day of Lord’s resurrection in the evening in Lazarus’ house: Now Mary, Martha, Ruth and Lazarus were in their home, and they had heard the rumour that their Lord had arisen from the dead, and Martha said, It cannot be, for such a thing has never happened since the world began. But Mary said, Did not the Lord bring back our brother from the dead? And He could surely bring Himself to life again. And as they talked, the Lord stood in their midst […] ³

While ‘Purushothama’, the Supreme Lord is trying to raise us to His level, we, the ‘purushadhamas’, the unworthy among men, try to bring Him to our wretched level.

I conclude this with a passage from STKC, which was taken from an ancient Scripture: “Behold, He will have an occultation during which the ignorant individuals will be perplexed and the invalidators will perish and the time-assigners will lie. Then He will rise” ⁴.

As they were sailing, Jesus fell asleep. Suddenly a strong wind blew down on the lake, and the boat began to fill with water, so that they were all in great danger. From Srimad Bhagavatham,  Dasama Skanda (Book X): When Shishupala began to speak disparagingly of Lord Sri Krishna and His devotees during ‘Rajasuya Yaga’, many of the lovers of the Lord closed their ears with both their hands and walked out of the hall. It is the Dharma prescribed by the ancients that a man, when he listens to insults aimed at the Lord or at the devotees of the Lord, if he does not walk out so that the words do not reach his ears, he will then be condemned to hell and all his merits (punya) will be snatched away from him. So terrible is this ‘Bagavanninda’ (words of disparagement spoken of the Lord).
